Gass Fellowship Society Meeting 2017

The Gass Fellowship Society was created by Dr. Gregg Kokame and Dr. Alex P. Hunyor, as a means of bringing people together who were strongly influenced by Dr. J. Donald Gass’ teachings, observations, and his humble and endearing personality.  Dr. Gass is known as the father of medical retina and the person who identified and characterized many of the retinal conditions that are well described today.

On November 9, 2017, the Gass Fellowship Society celebrated the 7th meeting in honor of Dr. Gass. This meeting took place just before the American Academy of Ophthalmology in New Orleans, Louisiana.

During this meeting, there was an array of presentations from mysterious cases to the most intriguing imaging anomalies. These presentations were  discussed and debated on by some of the brightest minds in retina. All of these lectures were inspired by the ideas and intuitiveness of Dr. Gass.

Some of the most prominent leaders in retina are members of this group such as Dr. Larry Yannuzzi, Dr. Harry Flynn, Dr. Anita Agarwal, who wrote the 5th Edition of the Gass Atlas, Dr. Jerry Shields, Dr. Carol Shields, Dr. Larry Singerman, and many other retina specialists who were inspired by Dr. Gass’ inquisitiveness and keen observations.
